The National Law Journal released its seventh annual “Plaintiffs’ Hot List” earlier this week. NLJ creates the list by asking readers to nominate “exemplary firms that devote at least half of their resources to plaintiffs’ work, and which have achieved at least one significant win during that period.” NLJ then chooses from the nominated firms.
For 2008, NLJ chose the following 15 law firms, a number of which are best known for their work as plaintiffs’ counsel in securities class action firms: Baron & Budd; Beasley Allen; Berger & Montague; Bernstein Liebhard & Lifshitz; Bernstein Litowitz; The Cochran Firm; Cotchett, Pitre & McCarthy; Coughlin Stoia; Dickstein Shapiro; Grant & Eisenhofer; Korein Tillery; Labaton Sucharow; Lieff Cabraser; Quinn Emanuel and Seeger Weiss.
Perhaps the most surprising name found on this list of firms that “devote at least half of their resources to plaintiffs’ work” is Dickstein Shapiro, a DC-based firm with over 400 lawyers that is better known for defense work.
