Former U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft continues to build out his unique new law firm on a national level. The model for the law firm, which thus far appears to be based on Ashcroft teaming up with former U.S. Attorneys in different states, was advanced again today as Johnny Sutton, the former U.S. attorney for the Western District of Texas announced that he’s starting Ashcroft Sutton & Ratcliffe in Texas. Sutton will base his operations in Austin, and will focus on “corporate compliance, corporate representation, strategic planning and risk management,” the Tex Parte Blog reports.
John Ratcliffe, formerly the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Texas from 2007 to 2008, will also be a name partner based in the new office. As previously discussed here last week, Catherine Hanaway, the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri, announced that she was leaving her post last week to open Ashcroft Hanaway in Missouri.
