The DOJ has confirmed that is increasing its prosecutions of foreign bribery under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA). The WSJ reports that the DOJ’s crackdown “now extends across five continents” and includes reviews of companies including Sun Microsystems and Royal Dutch Shell.
Mark Mendelsohn, a deputy chief in the DOJ who is overseeing the prosecutions stated that at least 120 companies are now under investigation, up from 100 at the end of last year. Mendelsohn currently has a team of eight FBI agents working on overseas bribery cases, up from five last year, the WSJ reports.
