Allen Stanford motion to remove the judge overseeing his case has been denied. CNBC reports that a federal appeals court denied Stanford’s petiton to remove U.S. District Judge David Hittner from his criminal case due to “unexplained hostility” by Hittner. Stanford filed the motion after Hittner denied Stanford’s motion to be moved to a jail closer to Houston, and blocked Stanford’s plans to change attorneys.
9th Circuit Reverses Reyes’ Backdating Conviction; Saudi Bishah chairman jailed for insider trading; Options Backdating Likely More Widespread Than Believed, Study Finds.
Today, the 9th Circuit reversed former Brocade CEO Gregory Reyes conviction for options backdating. Reyes had been convicted on ten counts of fraud in a criminal case, and sentenced to 21 months in prison and a $15 million fine. Reuters reports that Najm-Eddine Ahmad Najm-Eddine Dhafer, the chairman of Bishah Agricultural Development Co., has been sentenced to three months in jail after he was found guilty of insider trading.
