The Hon. Richard J. Holwell, the Southern District of New York judge who recently presided over the insider trading trial of Galleon Group founder Raj Rajaratnam, has announced his departure from the federal judiciary to open a boutique litigation firm alongside two prominent New York-based trial lawyers.

At the new firm—which will be known as Holwell Shuster & Goldberg—Judge Holwell rejoins Michael Shuster and Daniel Goldberg, with whom he practiced at White & Case before his appointment to the bench in 2003….

Hank Walther has joined Jones Day as a partner in the firm’s Corporate Criminal Investigations Practice. Prior to joining Jones Day, Walther served as chief of the Health Care Fraud Unit in the U.S. Department of Justice, where he supervised all health care fraud investigations and prosecutions pursued by the Criminal Division. During his tenure at the DOJ, Walther was also a supervisor in the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act Unit, where he oversaw foreign corruption investigations and prosecutions and coordinated with U.S. and foreign law enforcement, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and other federal agencies.

Jonathan Streeter, the lead prosecutor in the Raj Rajaratnam insider trading trial, is leaving the Manhattan U.S. attorney’s office to join the Dechert law firm in New York. Streeter, an assistant U.S. attorney, next month will become an equity partner in the firm’s white collar and securities litigation practice, a spokeswoman for Dechert said on Thursday.

Robert G. Morvillo, a prominent New York trial lawyer who pioneered the practice of white-collar criminal defense and whose client list included colorful celebrities, powerful politicians and billionaire businessmen, died on Saturday at his home in Rockville Centre, N.Y. He was 73.
