The National Association of Pension Funds (NAPF), the leading voice of workplace pensions in the UK, released today its Engagement Survey 2008 of funds with over £1 billion in assets. The Survey of 53 pension funds results show that growing numbers of UK pension schemes are becoming involved in class actions at some level.
The number of pensions that had never taken part in any way in a class action (including filing a proof of claim to recover money in settlements) fell from 28% in 2007 to 15% in 2008, and those who had been a lead plaintiff or other “active participant” rose from 10% to 23%.
