Former Milberg Weiss Partner David Bershad Sentenced to Six Months in Prison

By Securities Docket on October 27, 2008, 2:39 pm

David Bershad, a former name partner of Milberg Weiss Bershad & Schulman (now known as Milberg), was sentenced today to six months in prison for his role in a kickback scheme that induced clients to file securities suits, the WSJ reports.  The firm itself paid a fine of $75 million, former partners Melvyn Weiss and William Lerach are now serving prison time for their role in the crime, and the fourth name partner, Steven Schulman, is scheduled to be sentenced later today.

The WSJ reports that U.S. District Judge John Walter’s sentence was double the three months in prison recommended by the government.
