By Securities Docket on November 3, 2008, 11:48 pm

On Monday, U.S. District Judge John Walter of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California sentenced the final two defendants in the Milberg Weiss criminal probe.   Judge Walter sentenced former Beverly Hills eye doctor Steven Cooperman to four months in prison and two years of supervised release and ordered him to pay a $40,000 fine.  He also sentenced attorney Paul Selzer to two years probation and ordered him to pay $250,000 in fines and perform 1,000 hours of community service, Reuters reports.

Cooperman admitted to taking nearly $6 million in illegal payments from Milberg Weiss for acting as a plaintiff in the firm’s securities class action lawsuits.
