Report: Former Securities Litigator Kirsten Gillibrand Selected to Fill U.S. Senate Seat in New York

Securities litigators, you know we are always keeping an eye out for your future career options (i.e., “Bailout Plan Watchdog“), and here is one more: U.S. Senator.

The NY Times reports that Gov. David A. Paterson has selected Representative Kirsten Gillibrand, a 42-year-old congresswoman from upstate New York, to fill the United States Senate seat vacated by Hillary Rodham Clinton. The governor will reportedly announce his selection at noon in Albany.

Prior to becoming a member of Congress in 2006, Gillibrand was a partner at law firm Boies, Schiller and Flexner, where she specialized in securities litigation, antitrust and commercial law.
