Gary Lynch Named Vice Chairman of Morgan Stanley

Gary G. Lynch has been named Vice Chairman of Morgan Stanley. The firm announced today that Lynch will relocate to London, where he will remain in his current position as Chief Legal Officer and continue to work as part of the Firm’s senior management on issues of policy and strategy. He will also join the boards of Morgan Stanley’s subsidiaries throughout the region and take on an expanded management role within Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Lynch was the Director of the SEC’s Division of Enforcement from 1985 to 1989. He joined Morgan Stanley in October 2005 as Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer from Credit Suisse where he was Executive Vice Chairman and Global General Counsel. Prior to joining Credit Suisse, Mr. Lynch was a partner at Davis Polk from 1989 to 2001.
