Judge Orders Scrushy to Alabama for Testimony on Assets

By Securities Docket on September 11, 2009, 1:00 pm

richard_scrushy230HealthSouth Corp. founder Richard Scrushy must return to Alabama to answer questions about his financial assets.  Scushy has a $2.9 billion judgment against him following a recent court decision, and lawyers for plaintiffs attempting to collect are seeking more information.

The AP reports that a judge ruled on Thursday that Scrushy must  submit to sworn testimony on the subject after ruling him in contempt of court last week for failing to disclose his financial assets.  Scrushy is presently serving nearly seven years in prison in Texas for a federal bribery conviction, and could face additional jail time if he refuses to testify in the deposition ordered by the court.
