The FBI and DOJ are conducting a criminal probe into Bank of America’s purchase of Merrill Lynch last year. The AP reports that the investigation has been under way for six months, citing the Charlotte Observer.
The bank is also being investigated by the New York Attorney General’s office and the SEC. A settlement of the SEC’s case against BofA was rejected last week by U.S. District Judge Jed Rakoff, who set a trial February 1 trial date for the matter.
