Alberto Arevalo, the SEC’s assistant director of international enforcement in its Office of International Affairs, said last week that the agency’s recent internal reorganization will mean “faster and smarter” prosecutions and a renewed emphasis on working with criminal prosecutors abroad.
The Lawyer reports that according to Arevalo, in FY 2009 the SEC has sent out over 700 requests to its foreign counterparts for assistance in cases, as compared to over 500 requests in 2008.
