Former Enron Broadband CEO Sentenced to 16 Months in Prison

doj230The DOJ announced that Joseph Hirko, former co-chief executive officer of Enron Broadband Services, was sentenced today to 16 months in prison. In addition to the prison term, U.S. District Court Judge Vanessa Gilmore ordered Hirko to forfeit approximately $7 million in restitution to victims through the SEC’s Enron Fair Fund. Hirko pleaded guilty on Oct. 14, 2008, to one count of wire fraud charged in a superseding indictment.

The charges relate to allegedly material inaccurate representations made by Enron back in 2000.
