Stanford Gets Wish, Transferred to New Jail After Fight

By Securities Docket on September 29, 2009, 7:18 am

allen_stanford230It appears that in the end, it took two black eyes, a broken nose and a concussion for Allen Stanford to get the transfer he wanted out of the “oppressive” and “intolerable” Joe Corley Detention Center.  The NY Post reports that Stanford was transferred yesterday after returning from the hospital, where he was sent for treatment after a jail fight at Joe Corley.

Stanford’s court-appointed co-counsel characterized the move as a “wise economic decision” by the court.

“At Corley, there are no laptops, and no contact is allowed with prisoners — just shouting [to prisoners through] two-inch glass,” said Schaffer. “One page at a time, you hold the document to the glass. Can you imagine how long it takes to discuss millions of documents that way?”
