Gil Cornblum, a former Dorsey & Whitney partner in Toronto who was accused by Ontario securities regulators of illegally leaking information to a law school classmate, killed himself yesterday. Bloomberg reports that the former classmate, Stan Grmovsek, met Cornblum at Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto in 1990 and the two became close friends.
As previously discussed here, Dorsey fired Cornblum after it became public that Grmovsek was under investigation for alleged insider trading and tipping. Cornblum’s firm reportedly acted on behalf of several of the reporting issuers and parties involved in the 11 transactions under investigation.
