Denis J. McInerney of law firm Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP has been selected to serve as the next Chief of the DOJ’s fraud section. Dow Jones Newswires reports that McInerney, a former prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s office in the SDNY from 1989 to 1994, will not officially be named to the post until he completes the necessary administrative and security clearances.
SEC Director of Enforcement Robert Khuzami said the DOJ bringing on McInerney was “a coup for the government in the fight against financial fraud and white collar crime. Dennis is smart, dedicated and will bring to the job an aggressive yet informed perspective.”
