Madoff Trustee and Law Firm Seek Over $22 Million for Five Months Work

picard2230Baker & Hostetler, the law firm of Madoff bankruptcy trustee Irving Picard, has asked the court to award it $21.28 million in attorneys’ fees for the five months ending September 2009.  The firm’s total bill now comes to $37.5 million, the AP reports. Picard is separately seeking over $800,000 in fees for the same period for acting as trustee for the SIPC. A court hearing on the fee requests is scheduled for Dec. 17.

In his role as trustee, Picard had allowed 1,626 claims totaling $4.67 billion and denied 1,395 claims from Madoff victims as of November 19, 2009.
