Conn. AG Shuts Down Madoff Jewelry Sale, Possible ‘Scam Inspired by a Scam’

madoffcourt230The original Madoff scam may have run its course, but follow-on “scams inspired by the scam” appear to live on. Last week, Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal announced that he had shut down two auctions of jewelry supposedly belonging to Berie and Ruth Madoff because the auctioneer had no verification that the items actually belonged to the Madoffs.  Full details are available in my post on Legal Blog Watch today.
