Allen Stanford’s Daughter Fights to Hold On to Condo “Gifted” By Father

By Securities Docket on January 8, 2010, 1:56 pm

Randi Stanford, the daughter of R. Allen Stanford, is fighting in court to retain ownership of a $1.3 million Houston condominium given to her by her father.  The AP reports that Ms. Stanford must appear in federal court to show why she should not be held in contempt for fighting the sale of the condo.

Ms. Stanford argues that the 2,800 square foot condo was a gift to her, and was not part of the allegedly tainted assets seized by the government.  She accuses the receiver seeking to sell the condo of ”Gestapo-like tactics,’ the AP reports. The receiver, however, states that the condo should be sold off for the benefit of injured investors because it was bought by Allen Stanford using money from his personal bank account.

Randi Stanford also says she and her mother made a $70,000 down payment on the condo and have spent more than $113,000 on upkeep since she moved in three years ago.
