Did Plans for an SEC’s Budget Increase Just ‘Freeze?’

Until this week, it appeared that a significant increase in the SEC’s budget was inevitable and maybe even imminent. Is that still true after last night’s State of the Union address, in which President Obama vowed to freeze government spending for three years?

It is not completely clear, but for the moment it looks like the SEC’s window to secure the increased budget that appeared to be within its grasp could have just slammed shut. Full details are available in this post on my Enforcement Action blog over at Compliance Wek.
