Madoff’s Brother and Sons Under Investigation for Tax Fraud

By Securities Docket on February 12, 2010, 2:01 pm

Bernie Madoff’s brother, Peter Madoff, and the fraudster’s sons, Mark and Andrew Madoff, have become the latest targets of federal prosecutors in Manhattan who are investigating criminal tax fraud arising from Madoff’s massive Ponzi scheme, the WSJ reports.

Peter Madoff (pictured) was the chief compliance officer of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC and Mark and Andrew Madoff helped run the firm’s separate market-making division.

The WSJ reports that Peter, Mark and Andrew were tax clients of David ,who pleaded guilty last year to criminal charges of preparing false tax returns for Madoff and other unnamed Madoff investors. Friehling, who has not yet been sentenced, is now assisting prosecutors with the tax-fraud investigation.
