By Securities Docket on February 23, 2010, 10:11 pm

Samuel J. Buffone has joined law firm BuckleySandler as a partner in its Washington, DC office. The firm announced today that Buffone, a former co-head of the Government Enforcement Practice Group at Ropes & Gray, has joined the firm’s financial services practice.

Last year, Mr. Buffone argued and won an appeal in Yeager v. United States, a U.S. Supreme Court case barring further prosecution of a former Enron executive on double jeopardy grounds.

Buffone served as Chairman of the ABA Criminal Justice Section’s Committee on the United States Sentencing Commission and as Vice-Chairman of the ABA’s RICO, Forfeiture, and Civil Remedies Committee. He was founder and chairman of the Practitioners’ Advisory Group to the U.S. Sentencing Commission.
