Madoff Bankruptcy Judge Enables Immediate Appeal of Controversial Damages Calculation Order

U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Burton Lifland issued a ruling yesterday that will permit Madoff victims to immediately appeal his prior order that lets Madoff trustee Irving Picard reject Madoff account statements showing fake profit when calculating victims’ claims for repayment.

Bloomberg reports that Judge Lifland certified his order yesterday, allowing an immediate appeal now, rather than after Picard actually denies a claim based on the phony statements.
