Australia: ASIC Purchases Integrated Market Surveillance System

ASIC has purchased an integrated market surveillance system that will identify suspicious trading activity and raise alerts for regulators.  According to Business Day, the new system will be installed on July 1.

ASIC plans to assume the market surveillance role in the third quarter of 2010. The Australian Securities Exchange currently performs this function.
