On Tuesday, Assistant Attorney General Larry Breuer announced that the DOJ has instituted an “aggressive, comprehensive and well-coordinated law enforcement response” to Wall Street fraud. Main Justice reports that the DOJ will pursue jail time to fight economic crimes. “No matter how important or high up you are, we will look into conduct,” Breuer testified Tuesday before the Senate.
Breuer also stated that there are currently more than 2,200 ongoing corporate and securities fraud investigations, several with losses in excess of $100 million. According to Main Justice, the DOJ will also continue working closely with the SEC and other agencies on these cases.
