Report: Goldman Has Preliminary Discussions With SDNY

Attorneys at Goldman Sachs have reportedly opened preliminary talks with prosecutors in the SDNY, Charlie Gasparino of FOX Business reports. As the result of any criminal indictment of the firm could be catastrophic, FOX Business reports that “Goldman will spend enormous resources trying to convince criminal authorities there is no case.”  To date, however, prosecutors have not told Goldman whether or not they think the case merits scrutiny beyond the preliminary inquiry stage.

FOX Business also reports that while Goldman has not received a subpoena from prosecutors seeking information or testimony from key executives, the firm “continues to beef-up its legal staff in the expectation that prosecutors might very well subpoena the firm for information or even take depositions.”
