Investor Lawsuits Fly Following BP Oil Rig Disaster

By Securities Docket on July 8, 2010, 2:22 pm

At least five investor lawsuits have been filed following BP’s Deepwater Horizon drilling rig disaster, the AP reports. In addition, BP employees also are suing over the slide in value of company stock in their 401(k) plans, and the New York state comptroller intends to sue over losses to the state’s public employee pension fund.

Since the drilling rig disaster, which occurred on April 20, BP shares have lost about $85 billion in value, the AP reports.

AP: Pensions weigh options from BP spill.
