For only the second time in its history, and for the first time against an individual, Canada has prosecuted an incident of overseas bribery. Last month, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police announced the arrest of Nazir Karigar, a Canadian citizen, under the Corruption of Foreign Public Officials Act. Lawyers practicing in the anti-corruption area in Canada say they have been expecting increased enforcement under Canada’s CFPOA, however.
