Lawyers for Raj Rajaratnam, the billionaire co-founder of the Galleon Group accused of making tens of millions of dollars on insider tips, rested their case on Monday without calling Mr. Rajaratnam to the witness stand.
Though the defense had raised the prospect that Mr. Rajaratnam might testify, he remained silent throughout the case, the biggest insider trading trial in a generation, offering only a rare laugh or a smile from his seat behind the defense table.
