China’s ‘Death Sentence With Two-Year Reprieve’ for White Collar Criminals

Xiao Shiqing, the former Chairman of Galaxy Securities, was convicted of accepting approximately 15.46 million yuan in bribes and making profits of approximately 100 million yuan from insider trading. Late last month, the Henan Province Higher People’s Court handed Xiao a death sentence, but with something called a “two-year reprieve.”
