SEC’s Khuzami: Probes Not Hurt By Record Destruction

The Securities and Exchange Commission’s investigations haven’t been harmed by the agency’s past policy of discarding records of closed probes into possible Wall Street wrongdoing, SEC Enforcement Chief Robert Khuzami said Wednesday. The SEC has stored “significant information” concerning such probes stretching back 20 years in its electronic tracking system, Khuzami said in a letter to Sen. Charles Grassley (R., Iowa).
