UK: Garnier eyes US-style fines and bargains

Richard Alderman, SFO director, has looked longingly at the US system, where deferred prosecution agreements, or DPAs, have existed for 20 years. He has argued that they encourage more companies to come forward. Yet formal DPAs could be imported into Britain if Edward Garnier QC, the solicitor general, has his way.
