Weil and Andrews Kurth Quash Class Action by Stanford Investors Against Insurers

A federal judge in Dallas has dismissed a purported class action brought by seven of R. Allen Stanford’s alleged Ponzi scheme victims against two insurance companies that worked with the accused fraudster. Federal district court judge David Godbey stated that the Securities Litigation Uniform Standards Act of 1997 precluded the plaintiffs’ claims against Willis of Colorado and Bowen, Miclette & Britt.
