Australia: Sentence halved for young dealer who sought the ‘rush’ of insider trading

The judges took note of a new statement from psychiatrist Jonathon Phillips, who had given evidence to the first judge, stressing that “it is critical in Mr Hartman’s case to note that his criminal behaviour occurred at a time of mental disturbance”. The psychiatrist noted he had attempted to escape clinical depression by seeking a “rush” from drink, psycho-active drugs, gambling and illegal trading.
