Former Galleon Trader and Govt Informant, Adam Smith, Sentenced to Probation

Like others in these insider cases, Smith wore a wire against his friends and business associates.  In all, Smith met with FBI agents and/or federal prosecutors for over 150 hours and provided information on interpreting emails, documents and wiretap recordings.  His testimony was seen as being critical in the Rajaratnam trial for casting a light on the use of insider trading information and for discrediting a key Rajaratnam witness, Richard Schutte….
