Gupta to Remain Free Pending Insider Appeal

By Securities Docket on December 5, 2012, 2:37 pm

Former Goldman Sachs Group Inc. director Rajat Gupta will remain free on bail, possibly for several years, while he appeals his conviction on insider-trading charges.

Mr. Gupta, 64 years old, was supposed to report to prison on Jan. 8 to start a two-year prison sentence following his conviction in June on three counts of securities fraud and one count of conspiracy. But the U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals said on Tuesday that Mr. Gupta can stay out of prison while his appeal is heard.
