Have crackdowns on insider trading gone too far? | Financial Post

That Mr. Martoma was guilty was proven by wiretap evidence at trial. Even so, the nine-year prison term imposed by the judge (less than the 15 to 20 years recommended by federal sentencing guidelines) has tongues wagging in some U.S. quarters that perhaps the punishment of some financial malfeasance may be going too far.
