In a speech to compliance and legal officers in London on Wednesday, Matthew Wagstaff, SFO’s joint head of bribery & corruption outlined how cooperation should unfold in light of the prosecutor’s relatively new use of deferred prosecution agreements. Though stressing that a DPA is no panacea, Mr. Wagstaff said that it expands the possible outcomes in any investigation from imposing a fine or winding a business down, even if not appropriate in every case.
