Serious Fraud Office in the spotlight again under new boss

By Securities Docket on March 6, 2019, 8:35 am

‘Companies can’t go to prison, but individuals can,” says one lawyer involved in the defence of individuals at the centre of a Serious Fraud Office investigation. “People are more heavily invested in their defence than a business is – companies just want to put things behind them and move on.”

His comments are pertinent as the SFO faces yet more questions. There was surprise when Lisa Osofsky, who took over as director from David Green in August, announced last month that she was abandoning long-running investigations into Rolls-Royce and GlaxoSmithKline.
