SEC Tenure: 1983-1998. During her career at the SEC, Colleen Mahoney served as Chief Counsel, Deputy Director of the SEC’s Enforcement Division, Chief of Staff to SEC Chairman Arthur Levitt, and Acting SEC General Counsel. Colleen left the SEC to join Skadden Arps, where she practiced for over 25 years. At Skadden, Colleen was a true legal entrepreneur, building a large and sophisticated SEC practice at Skadden — and in the process became the consummate trusted advisor for both SEC regulated companies and public companies.
At the SEC, Colleen wore multiple hats and with her own special brand of grace and affability, became the trusted adviser for both Directors and Commissioners. Equally impressive is Colleen’s post-SEC career. You’ll never hear her boast about it but she is a spectacularly successful innovator in our field.
