SEC Tenure: 1995-2023. Michele Layne began her SEC career as a staff attorney in the Enforcement Division. She went on to become Associate Regional Director for Enforcement in the Los Angeles office, and then Regional Director. As Regional Director for over a decade, Michele conducted and supervised every type of enforcement matter the Commission brings and oversaw all examinations, investigations and enforcement litigation across the Los Angeles Region. Michele has served as a mentor and example to countless attorneys, accountants and professionals who have chosen to follow in her footsteps. Her expertise is broad and wide-ranging, her experience is nonpareil, and her integrity and contributions to the profession are extraordinary.
There is literally not a single variety of SEC enforcement case where I would not consider Michele to be an expert – she is a walking, breathing encyclopedia of every iota of financial regulation.
